Richard Powers’ novel on the Virtual Realities that might have been

What I’m Reading Welcome to the future, where we can now write science-fictional novels that can lament about what the Internet could had been before greed arrived. Richard Powers has always been the man to write about technology and regret (Prisoners’ Dillemma is the tour de force.) His new novel, Plowing the Dark is about the Internet that might have been, and Virtual Reality in particular. If you like Neal Stephenson, read Powers, who, IMHO, is the inheritor of Pynchon’s crown.
